You say “Jennifer Herrema” and I think low bangs, chunky highlights and a seemingly authentic white trash aesthetic. This are all things that made me take notice of the female half of the low-fi duo called Royal Trux. I loved her because she embodied that contrived vision Calvin Klein wanted in the 90’s for CK 1, but it was so unforced on her.
She was never a show pony who needed to get up on stage and have everyone look at her, and if she wasn’t in that genius band I secretly wanted her to start a NICO tribute act called “The Marble Index”. Its never too late.
Jennifer says and I agree:
“Radio in the ’80s was so smooth, so slick. It just kind of rolled out of the radio and rolled into your head.”
